The House
“The best accommodation we had in Morocco. We came to spend the last days of our holiday and wished we could have stayed the whole time.”
Grip Sea is the kind of small, intimate hostel that traveller-built reviews keep finding. Five clean room types, a rooftop where the wind carries the smell of the Atlantic, and a host — Jamal — who knows the local breaks, the local cafés, and the local bus times.
It is not a beach club. It is not a party hostel. It is the calm Moroccan house in Anza you wish you had stayed in last time — quiet, beautifully kept, an honest cost-to-value ratio, with breakfast on the terrace before the first surf check.

Anza, Agadir
Why Anza beats the village core.
Anza is the quiet beachfront pocket between downtown Agadir and the Taghazout surf villages. You get the surf and the Atlantic without the bachelor-party traffic of high-season Taghazout — and you keep one foot in the city (airport, hospitals, restaurants, banks) for sane logistics.
The neighbourhood has a year-round beach break, two surf cafés within 200 metres, an authentic local food scene, and a five-minute drive to the Marina d’Agadir for richer dining. The bus to Taghazout passes the front door.

Why MatnWave stays here
We chose Grip Sea once, and have been coming back ever since.
MatnWave’s entire reason to exist is to take the friction out of a serious training week — and the lodging is where most camps quietly fall apart. Crowded rooms, noisy nights, breakfast that runs out by 09:00, a fifteen-minute drive to the surf, no parking for the van.
Grip Sea solves all of it. Twelve practitioners fit comfortably across the room mix. The terrace doubles as a stretching and roll-recovery space. Anza beach is the warm-up. And Jamal — surfer, host, problem-solver — turns the logistics into hospitality.
Clarifications
Twelve answers, no fine print.
Direct, factual answers — the same ones we give over WhatsApp.
Where exactly is Grip Sea Morocco located? +
Grip Sea Morocco sits in the Anza neighbourhood of Agadir, on Morocco’s Atlantic coast (Projet Social n°81 Anza, 80000 Agadir). Anza Beach is fifty metres from the front door, downtown Agadir is roughly 8 km south, and the Taghazout surf village is 15 km north along the coastal road.
How far is Grip Sea from Agadir airport? +
Agadir Al Massira International Airport (AGA) is 27 km away — roughly a 35-minute drive. The hostel can arrange a private airport transfer on request; for MatnWave guests the transfer is included in every cohort week.
What room types does Grip Sea Morocco offer? +
Five room categories: a Female-only dorm and a Mixed dorm (both with two bunk beds), a Twin Room (two single or two large double beds), and two Double Room variants (one large double, or one large double / two singles). Bathrooms are shared, clean, and well-maintained.
Is breakfast included at Grip Sea Morocco? +
Yes. A homemade breakfast is served every morning on-site and is included with the room rate on most plans. Vegetarian, vegan, halal and gluten-free options are available — let Jamal know your needs at check-in.
Is there free parking and WiFi? +
Both are free. Public parking is available on-site (no reservation needed), and a fast WiFi network covers every floor including the rooftop terrace.
Is Grip Sea Morocco suitable for surfers? +
Yes — that’s the whole point. Anza is a year-round beach break, fifty metres from the door, with two surf cafés within 200 m and most of Agadir’s reefs and points within a 20-minute drive (Banana Point, Hash Point, Anchor Point, Killer Point). Jamal himself surfs and runs lessons for guests.
Can I book Grip Sea Morocco directly through MatnWave? +
Yes. Grip Sea is MatnWave’s home base — every MatnWave cohort week is hosted here. If you want to stay during a MatnWave week, book a cohort week directly with us. For a stand-alone stay, you can reserve via Booking.com or message us on WhatsApp and we’ll point you to the right room.
What languages does the staff speak? +
Arabic, English and French. Jamal, the host, speaks all three fluently.
What are the check-in and check-out times? +
Check-in is from 12:00 to 00:00. Check-out is between 11:00 and 12:00. Late arrivals are welcome — message Jamal in advance.
Is the property family-friendly? Are pets allowed? +
Children of all ages are welcome (no extra beds or cribs available). Pets are not allowed. The house is fully non-smoking, and parties or stag/hen events are not permitted.
How does Grip Sea compare to typical Taghazout hostels? +
Most Taghazout hostels sit in the village core, away from the beach and noisier at night. Grip Sea is beachfront in quieter Anza — closer to Agadir for logistics, fifty metres from the surf, and consistently rated 9.6/10 by recent guests. It is the calm, clean, well-hosted alternative.
How is the property rated by past guests? +
Grip Sea Morocco holds a 9.6/10 score on Booking.com from 47 verified reviews — rated Exceptional. Sub-scores: Staff 9.9, Comfort 9.8, Value 9.8, Cleanliness 9.7, Location 9.5, Amenities 9.5. Couples score it 9.6/10 for a two-traveller stay.
