Overview

Anza BJJ SURF is MatnWave’s flagship residential format south of Taghazout: quieter sand-bottom peaks, a shorter shuttle to Agadir–Al Massira Airport, and the same disciplined mat rhythm you expect from a premium BJJ surf camp in Morocco.

  • Twelve (12) practitioners maximum per cohort week at the listed hostel tier.
  • Surf bias: beginner-friendly to intermediate sandbars with coach rotation when a Agadir swell fills in.
  • BJJ bias: fundamentals through advanced chains; evening rolls stay controlled after Atlantic sessions.
  • Breakfast included; lunch and dinner cost €5 per meal, plus €1.50 for dessert.

BJJ

Morning surf is followed by lunch and free time, then BJJ from 17:00 to 19:00. Expect passing chains, guard maintenance, and stand-up entries scaled to belt experience. Sparring is always optional in name only—it is expected, but never reckless.

Surf

We coach trim, positioning, and wave selection before ego takes you out of depth. Boards and vests are staged when included; disclose your surf volume on the application.

Evenings

Dinner, relaxed social time and recovery after BJJ finishes at 19:00. We record the BJJ lesson and share the recording with participants each day so you can review what you learned.

Citable answers

Frequently asked — this format

Why choose Anza instead of central Taghazout for a BJJ surf camp?

Anza offers mellower sand-bottom training waves for many skill levels and keeps airport logistics tight for Agadir arrivals. When you want Taghazout’s famous points, we still run select missions on the right tide.

What gear should I bring for BJJ at Anza?

Bring spare dry training kit. Laundry is not included in your camp package. We can wash your clothes for €10 per load of up to 5 kg. Alternatively, take your clothes yourself to a local pressing (laundry service) for around €5; the local provider sets the final price. Ask the team for directions.

How beginner-friendly is the Anza surf programming?

Coaches bias whitewater to soft green waves for learning weeks. If a large swell arrives, we communicate session risk clearly and may shift time to protected corners.

Is there private room availability?

Room maps differ by season. State single occupancy requests on the application; we quote the surcharge only when inventory exists.

Are lunch and dinner included?

Breakfast is included with Roll & Stay. Lunch and dinner are extra: €5 per meal, plus €1.50 if you choose dessert.

Where can I wash my clothes?

Laundry is not included in your camp package. We can wash your clothes for €10 per load of up to 5 kg. Alternatively, take your clothes yourself to a local pressing (laundry service) for around €5; the local provider sets the final price. Ask the team for directions.

How much does drinking water cost?

Bottled water costs €1 for a 1.5 L bottle and is not included in the camp package. You can also bring your own water bottle.

When will I receive the day-by-day programme?

Before each camp, we share a clear day-by-day programme with participants. Surf times may change with ocean conditions; we communicate any adjustments.

Are BJJ lessons recorded?

We record the BJJ lesson and share the recording with participants each day so you can review what you learned.
